Note that by default, Outlook 2016 will first check if the domain is registered with Office 365. If it is, Outlook will connect directly to Office 365 regardless of any DNS records which you've implemented.

May 11, 2012 · You may find the easiest thing to do is to delete the forward lookup zone for your DNS and recreate it. Check that the server is configured to use 127.0.0.1 for it's only DNS entry unless you have other internal Windows DNS servers, there should be no 3rd party DNS servers listed.

It requires a DOMAIN name and the DNS servers. We have Comcast as the internet provider. When I do an IPCONFIG /ALL, the dns name is ***** ***** I get the IP v6 servers and then the IP v4 servers. I have tried those addresses with no domain server, but keep getting that the host name cannot be resolved and to check the DNS settings.
